Online Business for Mom
ByWhen I had my son in 2003, I left my job to stay home with him. Even though I was tired with a new baby I took every chance I could get to figure out how to start my own business from home. It wasn’t until 2006 that I really had my own “online business for mom.”
Laying about eating Bon-Bons was not an option for me, although it did sound good. I needed to bring in a second income of some sort to help with the extras we always seemed to need. Those first few years were a fiasco, although I did find many businesses that would NOT work! 
My husband would come home and see me trying a new “work at home” scheme and at first was very encouraging. But after a few years I knew he didn’t believe me anymore when I said I would make it work.
There was the jewelry making episode, the reselling of gems episode, the festival booth episode, the eBay episode, the diaper bag episode…and more. I remember telling him each time that “this was it!” But it wasn’t.
Finally in 2006, coincidentally coinciding with my first high speed connection, I started selling my own brand of mineral makeup online. That was the beginning of a very long & hard road. Not having any extra money, I couldn’t just hire someone to make my website, I didn’t have money for that. I decided to learn each step…
html… ftp… http… css… shopping carts… div tags… meta tags… keywords… meta descriptions… SEO… ROI… and on and on…
Looking back I think I must have been nuts! BUT my husband came home one day and said “You must on to something…I’ve never seen you stick to one thing for so long!” I was on my way!
Well, it’s all coming together now & I want you to avoid the pitfalls, blunders & mistakes I went though.
